Conversions: Your Most Important Metric

Conversion is a term used to describe what happens to website traffic as it becomes a sale. It’s the most important metric for small businesses because it tells you how profitable you are.

Traffic is a good metric, but if you get a lot of traffic and no sales, what good is it?

Unique visitors is a good metric, but what are visitors if they don’t convert?

Inbound links are good to measure, but links with no sales are just numbers.

You can spend your time measuring all sorts of things related to your website, most of which is good to keep an eye on, but if you aren’t on top of your conversion numbers, then you likely aren’t making money. So what influences conversions?

One thing. Content.

Your content is what converts visitors. What you say and how you say it. The No. 1 most important thing that influences conversions, that turns traffic into sales, is a strong call to action. Do you have one?

If you are ready to get serious about great online marketing, then find someone who writes great content with great calls to action that lead to converting your traffic to sales. That’s the most important metric.
