What The Death Of Direct Mail Means To You

Direct mail marketing is still effective – for now. But if U.S. Postmaster General Patrick Donahue is correct in his prediction, 15 years from now it won’t be.

Watch this video interview to see what I mean:

Bloggers have already killed the newspaper journalism industry, and traditional marketing paradigms have been in decline for at least five years now. I believe they’ll continue to decline. Within 15 years, probably sooner, few businesses will be marketing the same way they have in the past. Young entrepreneurs starting businesses today rely mostly on Internet marketing tactics rather than traditional marketing strategies like the Yellow Pages (all but dead), newspaper advertising, TV, and radio.

While most traditional marketing methods are still viable today, I envision a day when they won’t be. How will you promote your business then?

If you aren’t using online marketing techniques to promote your business within ten years, you will be irrelevant. You might as well start now, even if you just do a little bit. It’s better than nothing at all.
