Online prospecting has been as sophisticated an enterprise as offline prospecting – and just as important, if not more. Here are 8 ways that you can search and find the right customers for your business.
- Blogging – You might not think of blogging as a prospecting tool, but it is. With every new blog post you are marketing yourself toward a targeted audience whether you intend to or not. You might as well make it an intentional effort. Draw a caricature of your ideal customer, then write blog posts that target that customer’s interests. You’ll achieve your search engine rankings for the right keywords and draw your target customer toward you. That’s inbound prospecting at its finest.
- Twitter – I’ve found Twitter to be extremely useful in prospecting. Unlike traditional prospecting, however, the key is to find the right people to connect with off site and develop relationships while you entice your prospects into something deeper.
- Your website – Speaking of your website, why not use it to for prospecting? Place a newsletter opt-in form on your website and make an offer they can’t refuse. You can then use e-mail as a prospecting tool.
- E-mail newsletter – Do you have a newsletter you send by e-mail? Make it a prospecting tool. First, get them to opt in. Then, entice them to respond to your offers.
- Articles – Articles online can take many forms. The best way to conduct article marketing today is through guest blogging on other websites within your niche.
- Groupon – Entice them with coupons. When they visit your store to take advantage of the introductory discounts, sign them up for your newsletter.
- LinkedIn – LinkedIn is an awesome social media prospecting tool. Make connections, then increase your reputation through LinkedIn’s question and answer feature.
- Facebook page – Build your Facebook page into a prospecting tool in just a few minutes of work each day.
