Free E-book Offer: Local Winning

I find myself quite often downloading e-books and subscribing to newsletters just to see what fellow marketers are up to. I’ve found it’s a good way to stay fresh and up to date on my knowledge of SEO, local search, social media, and Internet marketing in general. It’s hard, when you download enough e-books, to find information you haven’t read or heard about before.

I recently received an advance copy of an e-book that really knocked my socks off.

“Local Winning” is the title of this e-book by fellow marketer Darren J. Deverux out of San Francisco. In 20 pages, Darren is able to pack a wealth of knowledge about local listing websites such as Google Places, Yelp, Local.com, and CitySearch.

Darren doesn’t say much I didn’t already know, but because I have dealt with local listing sites myself and researched them thoroughly in the last five years, I can vouch that the information he conveys is 100% right on. But it isn’t an in-depth study of local search (and for a free e-book download, it would be unreasonable to be expect that it would be). What “Local Winning” is, however, is a great introduction to the local listing websites for people who have done absolutely no online marketing at all.

If you are an existing small business owner in South Central Pennsylvania who is taking her first step toward marketing online and want a good introduction to ranking locally, then I highly recommend “Local Winning.” If you are embarking upon a new website venture that will focus on local customers, then I recommend “Local Winning” as well. And if you want to know how to use customer reviews effectively and ethically, then “Local Winning” is a nice introduction.

The book covers the topic well enough in its small space and Darren backs up his knowledge with facts and statistics that are verifiable. He has also gone through great pains to make his e-book attractive, which, given that it is a PDF document, actually is saying something.
