Link building is an important part of search engine optimization work. Of course, some of the methods are outdated and some are fairly new. Still, building inbound links should not be left to chance by any means.
Here is a list of ways that South Central Pa. webmasters can build links to their websites:
- Leave it to chance and hope that other website owners find value enough in your content to link to it
- Article marketing
- Guest blogging on someone else’s blog
- Directory submissions
- Blog commenting
- Forum commenting
- Link baiting
- Link buying
- Social bookmarking
- Off-site blogging
- Social media networking
- Blog trackbacking
- Reciprocal linking
- Setting up an affiliate program
- Offer free downloads (also known as link bait)
I don’t recommend all of these methods. I’m just saying that these are ways that website owners and webmasters have used to build inbound links to their websites. Some of these methods are more effective than others.
If you want to see how many links you have pointing to your site right now and keep a constant gauge on your link building efforts, then check out Yahoo!s Site Explorer.
With Bing taking over Yahoo!s search engine, it’s hard to say how long Site Explorer will remain active. It could be closed at any time, but for now you have this free link checker. There are other ways to check your links – some are free and some are not. However you decide to do it, it is recommended that you keep a constant eye on your inbound links and look for opportunities to acquire the right links at the right pace.
