5 Social Bookmarking Sites You Aren’t Using (But Should)

Chances are, if you’re doing any social bookmarking at all, then you are likely using StumbleUpon, Digg, Delicious, and maybe Reddit. But if you don’t know what social bookmarking is, then you aren’t even using those. This post is for those of you who know what it is but aren’t making the most of it.

It’s time to move beyond the most popular services and start using some of the smaller services that can still get you some social and SEO traction.

Here are 5 social bookmarking services that you’ve probably never heard of but that you should be using:

  1. Diigo – Let’s start with Diigo. It’s more than a mere social bookmarking website. It’s a stupendous research tool. Diigo allows you to highlight portions of web pages that you are reading and attach sticky notes to the pages. If you are a prodigious researcher, Diigo is an awesome tool.
  2. Folkd – Folkd calls itself a social search engine. I like that term. The idea is to find what you are looking for by asking your friends. The cool thing about Folkd is you can bookmark your favorite videos as there is a separate video channel. That alone makes it a unique service.
  3. Bibsonomy – Like Diigo, Bibsonomy is a great resource for researchers. It has a channel devoted entirely to publications, a very useful tool if you are a publications researcher – and who isn’t?
  4. Oyax – Oyax is a simple and basic bookmarking service. If you like it easy to use and simplified, then Oyax is just your type of service.
  5. Jumptags – You can do more than save and share links on Jumptags. You can also save and share RSS feeds, videos, games, notes, and a whole lot more. You can even make your Jumptags private. Cool service.

Now it’s your turn. Which social bookmarking services do you use and recommend?
