Quora is one of the more popular question & answer websites online. It’s a great social community if you have a body of knowledge you like to share or if you just like playing the Q&A game. Unlike most other Q&A sites, however, they have a system for getting rid of or discouraging spam comments and B.S. answers. It isn’t perfect, but I like it better than any of the other popular question & answer sites.
Now they have something new that business owners, freelancers, and other web entrepreneurs can use to promote themselves. It’s called Boards.
So, what’s a Quora Board? It’s simply a web page that you set up and use to post links to about a particular topic. For instance, if you are a coin collector and you know a lot about different currencies, or maybe a particular type of currency such as 17th century European coins, then you might want to set up a Quora Board around the topic of numismatics. You collect links around the web on coin collecting and share them on your board.
What makes the Quora Board different than other services of this type – for instance, Pinterest – is that the Q&A site has a built-in social network. So if you connect with other Quora users quickly, then you can develop a following.
A unique aspect of Quora Boards is that you can make other Quora users authors and co-owners. That takes the load off of you completely and allows others to share in making your Board a great resource.
Savvy marketers will realize that if you write a blog or publish articles on your topic, then you can link to your own articles on your Quora Board. But if you want your Quora Board to be the best resource it can be, I’d recommend sharing as much as you can off of your website as well. Spread the wealth.
