If you’ve been waiting for Google+ accounts for business – or even if you haven’t – then they’re here. Warning, though: You’ll have to jump through a couple of hoops to get it up and running.
If you haven’t heard of Google+ or you’re not sure you want a Google+ account, then you might want to read my back posts.
I like the conclusion drawn by Angela West at PCWorld.
It’s not a replacement for Facebook, but it could knock LinkedIn off its perch as the predominant social network for business.
Since I’m not a big fan of LinkedIn and never have been, I don’t think this would be a bad thing. In fact, I quite like Google+ for reasons already enumerated in previous blog posts. The point I’d like to make about Google+ business accounts is that this is just the beginning. If you don’t want to sign into Google Apps and go through this beta testing period, wait about a month and I suspect that Google will roll out public beta fairly quickly on this one. But you’ll definitely want to get a business account on Google+ sooner rather than later. Even if you run a small business in Adams County, Pa.
UPDATE: Since PCWorld falsely reported that business accounts for Google+ were open to the public and I didn’t check the source for myself to ensure its accuracy, this blog post is not 100% correct. Google+ has not opened business accounts for anyone of this writing. However, they are still claiming that business accounts are on the way.
