Local Marketing On Facebook

Local businesses in South Central Pennsylvania wanting to tap into the power of Facebook marketing have more than one option. Facebook actually has a lot of versatility and flexibility built into it. And, surprisingly, you don’t have to spend a lot of time there to use it effectively – especially for local marketing efforts.

Here are a few ways you can market your local South Central Pennsylvania business through Facebook.

  1. Facebook Groups – You can join a group or start a group. Groups can be centered around a topic – for instance, online marketing – or a geographic location. In fact, Facebook already has groups in place for some local areas, such as Harrisburg and York. And, of course, groups can be centered around a combination of the two (ie. online marketing in York, Pa.).
  2. Facebook PagesFacebook pages have become popular. All you have to do is create a page for your business and then promote it through Facebook to your friends, through other social media networks, on your website, and even off line.
  3. Friends Lists – As you add friends to your Facebook account, categorize them into lists. These lists can be defined by specific interests your friends have in common or geographic commonalities. When you have something to say that is of interest only to your local friends, then share it with that list.
  4. Facebook Places – Facebook also has community pages for specific locations. For instance, here’s one for Dillsburg, Pa. Community pages allow anyone to edit them. When one of your friends tries to edit a community page for a location, they’ll see that you’ve made edits to the same page.
  5. Facebook Events - If you are sponsoring or hosting an event locally, you can list it and promote it to your friends on Facebook through the Events application.
  6. Local Business Listings – These are similar to community pages for cities and municipalities, but they exist for local businesses. Anyone can edit these pages. If you find your business listed, then you should keep an eye on this page to ensure that accurate information is posted about your business.

These are just a few of the ways you can market your local business through Facebook. If you know of other ways, please share.
